Donna Schmitt

Donna Schmitt became active in Republican politics during the Skip Carlson campaign in 1995 when a neighbor asked her to help with mailings. It was during that campaign, she was introduced to door knocking, lit dropping, parades and stuffing envelopes. She helped with many campaigns over the years. Donna had 4 successful campaigns of her own, serving on the Columbia Heights City Council for 6 years and Mayor of Columbia Heights for 4 years. During those years, she joined the North Metro Republican Women’s Club, served on the League of MN Cities, held an annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast and Board member of the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization. Since retiring, she and her husband have moved out of the Metro to be close to family. Donna has since joined the local BPOU, was BPOU chair for two years and joined the Daughters for Republican Liberty. She leads a weekly women’s Prayer and Bible study group and enjoys morning coffee with her husband, ‘solving the world’s problems’.
